The JN-4D is serial #1 designed and built by Dennis Wyle of EARLY BIRDS (LSA legal). She has been upgraded to full flight & Engine instruments with a new Jabiru 2200 engine. Comes with Sporty's handheld radio & GPS, WWI uniform, helmet/goggles ETC. There are full flying controls (except brakes, mainly used for steering) but no flight instruments in the front cockpit. "Jenny's" gross is 800 lbs and she weighs in at 500 lbs. leaving 300lbs for useful load. I fly at 190 lbs which limits my passenger & fuel to 110 lbs. If the wings were recovered with the lighter dacron and the resin not applied. the plane would then weight in at 400 lbs. giving you a useful load of 400 lbs. Which means she could carry as much as she weighs. As the front passenger seat is over the wings (CG) balance is not affected. "Jenny" could therefore serve he original purpose as a trainer, which might be a good thing for new single seat tail dragger pilots of the dawn patrol. As you know there is a learning curve flying these old school planes. I've got about $45K in her and I doubt if you could build one today for that amount. But I will consider any reasonable offer. The Plane is hangared in Howe, IN on a grass strip. She may be just the ticket for the pilot who wants to fly with the Dawn Patrol, but doesn't have the time or desire to build his own replica.
Added 7/12/2012: IF YOU HAVE BEEN LOOKING AT THIS AD AND ARE INTERESTED IN OWNING THIS AIRPLANE, NOW IS THE TIME. MAKE ME A REASONABLE OFFER WE BOTH CAN AGREE ON AND IT'S YOURS. This airplane will will carry a 300 lb payload.

Mold for Graham Lee Nieuports.
Mold for Graham Lee Nieuports.
This is made for the Nieuport 17, which uses a full
cowl, but it would be easy to change for the Nieuports that have the Horseshoe Cowl.
It is designed to make individual half cowls, each having a molded in joggled lip
on one edge, so that the halves key together, with camlocks or captive hardware. You can
make the joint vertical or horizonta
The mold is made from epoxy and has strengtheners to keep it stable. I am showing
the two molded halves pushed together, and the sample I have is one that I made from epoxy
and glass cloth, but was slightly heavier than I wanted. Then I made one with one less
layer of cloth, that was used on my Nieuport 17.
The diameter is 34 inches, and the overall length, that can be trimmed, is 24
If the mold
needs to be shipped, I can box it with 1/4 in ply for safe shipping.
Price, with the molded examples, not including shipping, is $200. I am willing to
drive/deliver for 200 miles each way, for the gasoline, 20 mpg. Maybe to meet the buyer?
